Each week begins the same....Monday morning market run for produce, followed by dropping the kids at school, then straight to work to get shit done with Barb!
She gets hungry, really hungry and if I don't feed her she gets this look in her eye and I know I better get to it.
And when you're in my kitchen the only option is Broth - thank god she LOVES Broth!
This is my go to lunch option when the shit is hitting the fan, we're bottling 200L of broth & Soups and Barb is hungry. If she's really lucky there's chicken in there too!
HUNGRY BARB BROTH
1L favourite Love and Bones Plain Broth
1 large carrot sliced
the white part of the leek finely sliced
a pinch of chilli or cayenne
salt and pepper
optional finely chopped parsley and rocket
a handful per bowl or olive green organics tiny pasta or udon or even if my crew are lucky a matzo ball or 2
warm the broth along with carrot, leek, pinch of spice, salt & pepper
bring to the boil, simmer with lid on until the carrot is cooked
cook up the parsley and rocket - put a spoonful in each bowl
if I had olive oil at the kitchen a glug of that would also go it
and whatever cooked pasta or grain you choose
get the biggest bowl I can find and feed her! If she really lucky she also gets juicy succulent chicken from the broth that's cooking!
EAT AND GET BACK TO WORK!
Sounds simple and it is, but man its so delicious!
